Hello there

This post is for those who are able to play Call Of Duty 4 in single player mode, but are experiencing multiplayer crashes (CTD’s).
Most of the times (not always) this is due to RealTek(TM) sound drivers. If you have a RealTek(TM) on-board sound card then this is very likely the reason why you are having problems when running on multiplayer. Apparently there are also some problems with Sigmatel® on-board sound cards. The solution presented in this post however, is for RealTek(TM) sound cards only. For Sigmatel® owners you may want to try to update your audio drivers from dell.com.

Below there are a few known fixes for this problem (only one is guaranteed though).

Not guaranteed solutions:

Solution 1: Plug in a microphone/headphone into your microphone and headphone jacks.

Solution 2: Go to ‘Control Panel -> (Hardware and Sound) -> Sound’ and one by one, select all the audio devices in the ‘Playback’ tab list, go to ‘Properties’, select the ‘Advanced’ tab and disable the ‘Give exclusive mode applications priority’ option. Click ‘Apply’ and ‘Ok’.
Remember to do this to all the playback devices in the list.
If this doesn’t work, try to do the same to the ‘Recording’ tab devices in ‘Sound’ properties also.

Solution 3: Go to ‘Control Panel -> (Hardware and Sound) -> Sound’, select the ‘Recording’ tab, right click in the window and enable ‘Show Disabled Devices’. ‘Stereo Mix’ should now be visible…right click it and ‘Enable’ it. Press’Ok’.

Solution 4: Update your RealTek(TM) sound card drivers.

Guaranteed solutions:

If you tried all the solutions above and you’re still experiencing problems when playing Call Of Duty 4 in multiplayer then you probably have to uninstall your sound card drivers to fix the problem.
Before you proceed though, it is recommended for you to take note of the make and model of your sound card for later reinstallation.
To remove your sound card, go to ‘Add/Remove Programs’ search for your RealTek(TM) sound card drivers and uninstall them.
If you can not find your drivers there, then go to the ‘Device Manager’ in ‘Control Panel’, and look for your sound card (probably under ‘Sound, video and game controllers’). Right click it and select ‘Uninstall’. After that, reboot your pc.
This should fix your problem.
If you’re running Windows Vista, your sound card default drivers will be installed automatically and you should not witness any sound problem. If you’re not running Windows Vista and your sound card does not work then you may want to reinstall your sound card drivers.

Happy Gaming! :)

Note: This problem exists till Call Of Duty 4 version 1.7 at least. It is possible that future versions/patches of the game correct this problem.

That’s right, the revolution is coming…and it’s gonna be big!
Civilization Revolution is the new and most recent work of Sid Meier, developed by Firaxis for the new generation consoles: Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo DS.

Even though PC gamers (and Civ fans) won’t be able to play Revolution on their PC’s, this new Civilization game by Sid Meier looks pretty amazing with tons of new features and abilities.
Even Sid Meier is looking forward for the release having said “This is the game I’ve always wanted to make.
If Civilization 4 was a success and for many the best strategy game of the year (rated ‘9.4 Editors’ Choice’ by GameSpot), then Civilization Revolution will blow you away.
For those who don’t know, Civilization is a series of turn-based strategy games ‘created’ by Sid Meier, since 1990 with the very first Civilization, followed by Sid Meier’s Civilization II (1996), Sid Meier’s Civilization III (2001), Sid Meier’s Civlization IV (2005), and now Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution (2008).
Civilization series have come a long way now and Revolution is better than ever.

In this new game you will find 16 civilizations (USA - Abraham Lincoln, England - Queen Elizabeth I, China - Mao Zedong, Japan - Tokugawa Ieyasu, Aztecs - Montezuma, India - Mohandas Gandhi, Mongolia - Ghenghis Khan, Rome - Julius Caesar, Egypt - Cleopatra, France - Napoleon Bonaparte, Arabia - Saladin, Greece - Alexander, Spain - Isabella I, Germany - Otto von Bismark, Zulu Nation - Shaka Zulu, Russia - Catherine the Great), an invaluable Civilopedia, a streamlined time scale for quicker play, a fully featured online play mode up to 4 players, integrated videos and voice chatting, in-game achievements, and extra downloadable content. The game also has highly detailed characters, units, buildings, landscapes and visual effects, with an amazing integrated physics for ultra-realism. In-game interface has been improved as well and it now looks awesome…pretty simple and nice.
The new Civilization Revolution intends to attract new gamers and to make the game more playable by all ages by trying to change the classic playing style of Civ. For example, game speed is now very different and you can end a game in only a few hours instead of previous Civ versions (which can be not cool for classic Civ fans, but cooler for first timers).

Preview:

The game will be released on July 7 and so far it looks awesome.
I’m really looking forward this since Civilization series are my favorite…it’s a shame that I don’t have a PS3 or an XBox360.

Goodbye and take care!

Grand Theft Auto IV, probably the most anticipated game of the year, is finally on stores.
Developed by Rockstar North, GTA IV, was released worldwide (except in Japan) on 29 April 2008 (today) for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
The action unfolds in Liberty City (based on New York City) where you play as Niko Bellic, an Eastern European who comes to the USA searching for the famous “American Dream”. However, Niko comes to find that his cousin has lied about the wealth and luxury that would be awaiting him.
The story features two possible endings depending on which choice the player makes at certain points in the game.
The latest version of GTA is also the first one to include online multiplayer with 15 different modes.

The game received an handful of positive reviews (both for PS3 and 360 platforms):
- GameSpot 10/10
- GameSpy 5/5
- IGN 10/10
- Eurogamer 10/10
- …

Conclusion: You should definitely buy this game!

Take care.

I can honestly say that Fly For Fun (Flyff) is currently the best FREE massive multiplayer online role playing game.
The game has it’s own fantasy theme. You start as a Vagrant, which is a newbie class (I think I can say that) and at lvl 15 you can choose your first job.
There are 4 different options for the first job…Magician (mage), Mercenary (warrior), Assist (healer), and Acrobat (ranger). They all are pretty cool specially Assist I may say.
You keep leveling and at lvl 20 you can finally have, probably one of the most wanted items in the game…the flying broom/board (you can get other stuff, such as flying bikes and carpets, in gpotaro store…but real money here)…and then you can fly…and it’s pretty amazing.
You can make your character unique, since it’s you who choose the stat you want to upgrade each time you level up (stamina, strength, intelligence…). The game also has a pet system which makes you able to have pets like dragons and unicorns to help you in battle.
At lvl 60 you can choose your second job. This second job is probably the big objective in the game, since your character gets even more powerfull…you’re elite.
The game graphics are also pretty damn good with a ‘cartoon-manga style’ xD , and the in-game music it’s awesome…it really gets you into it.
Of course the game is not perfect…some things that bother me is that there isn’t much to do and you can get a bit tired after playing the game for a while. The equipment is also very limited (unless you buy unique equipment at gpotato store) and sometimes you can feel like everyone looks the same.
However, you can get pretty addicted to the game and really have fun. If you don’t know it just give it a try…I think you won’t regret it.
To get more information about the game and see a list with the full in-game features, visit the official site at flyff.gpotato.com.

I remember the good old days, when I use to spend my time playing games like Biomenace. I played this game so many times…and now, more than 15 years later, looking back to it and playing it again…well that’s cool!
I mean…this are the kind of games that will never leave your head. It’s not a 3d game, with a surreal graphic engine, or an amazing physics…it’s just a few bad colored pixels, with a “system sound” theme (very good to hear though), and probably a lot lines of code. It’s not a game where you have a world to explore, or a million things to do and choose from…but damn…this is a game! and may I say…a very good one!
At least for me it was, and still is. I remember the time I had to initiate windows with the console, or insert a disk and write ‘dir p’ just to play games like this one.
This is a classic. I mean…I shure enjoy doing some head shots in CoD2, or explore the amazing world of San Andreas…but I think those games will never get into me like games like Biomenace did. It’s funny how simple games with bad quality audio, and bad quality graphics can give you so much pleasure like a kick ass graphics and audio game.
Those were good times…oh yeah they were.
So…I’ll be posting some classical DOS/WIN games once in a while, just like this one so you can remember the good old days. The first one is Biomenace.

Have fun!
